Club de Nuit Precieux 1 by Armaf is an unisex woody fruity fragrance, launched in 2024.
As someone who has grown tired of Creed Aventus and all of its clones for a good couple of years now, I have to say that even with this thought in my mind, I was kind of excited when I got this scent.

Even though Aventus is nowhere near the best offering from Creed, and I could easily list five better scents from their selection, it is by far their most popular fragrance, and the reason why we still see clones of it released almost daily, even in the 2020s.
With an open mind, I’ll give you a great selection of reasons why you should consider or skip this release, depending on where you are in your fragrance journey.

PERFUME PRESENTATION
On the first opening, the outer box has to be “unzipped” to get to the high-quality box that sits inside of it, which is again covered in weird cloth-like material, that also has “Club de Nuit” written on it.
Now, you open this other magnetic box on the one side, and what’s the first thing you see inside?
Another pamphlet with the fragrance story, a detailed account of the inspiration and creation process, and a glass cleaning cloth accompany you until you reach the actual bottle.
Too much work to get your bottle if you ask me. Great job, Armaf, but I’m never placing the bottle inside the boxes again.
Speaking of the bottle, a much-needed improvement in the design is evident when you see it in person. It is thinner, has no kitschy details, and has an art direction that should have been implemented from the first release of this line 10 years ago.
Based on my experience over the last three months, the brand has resolved the issue that has plagued every CDNI release for the past 10 years.
The issue I’m referring to is the atomiser on the older CDNI releases. Even if it catches a couple of perfume drops here and there from time to time, it gets destroyed in the process(unless you clean it each time). Great unboxing experience, but a little too much for me.
NOTE BREAKDOWN

In this section of my Scent Grail review, I’ll dive into the note breakdown that plays a crucial role in shaping the identity of a fragrance.
Understanding how the top, heart, and base notes interact can provide valuable insight into the scent’s overall character.
Whether you’re considering adding a fragrance to your collection or are simply curious about how the notes unfold, this breakdown will help you appreciate the craftsmanship and both the positive and negative aspects of a particular fragrance.
PERFUME NOTES
- TOP NOTES: Bergamot, Lemon, Pink Pepper, Black Pepper, Pineapple, Pear, Caramel
- HEART NOTES: Anise, Lily Of The Valley, Jasmine, White Wood, Oak Moss
- BASE NOTE: Amber, Cedar Wood, Leather, Patchouli, White Musk, Vanilla, Ambroxan
TOP NOTES
Precieux 1 is, without a doubt, the best version of CDNI you can own. The drawbacks are obvious, but if you can accept them, I think that you cannot find a better-inspired Aventus perfume.
This opening screams quality. From the juicy, sweet pineapple to the almost photorealistic lemon that is enveloped in a peppery zing with a touch of caramel, it is to die for.
It is funny to realise that this smells more like the original Aventus than the real deal you can find today.
HEART NOTES
In the heart notes, ambroxan starts to kick in with a touch of anise and something floral, but I’m not sure whether that is jasmine or Lily of the Valley.
For me, the heart phase (lasting a few hours) is sweet but more sophisticated than the top – balanced and a bit mysterious.
Other than that, there are no other surprises until the base notes arrive and provide something new and tell a whole different story.
BASE NOTES
Eventually, Precieux 1 dries down to a warm, sensual base. In the final hours, I smell deep amber, ambroxan, and a leading player of this composition – the wonderful green oak moss.
The oak moss is the reason why I think the whole release is on a whole different level from what we saw in the previous iterations of CDNI.
Overall, the evolution is clear: bright fruit/spice → watery ambroxan → warm woods and amber. Each stage transitions smoothly on my skin, and smells much more expensive than it is.
PERFORMANCE & APPEAL
On my skin, the performance is excellent, particularly in terms of longevity. I need 10-12 hours, but the projection is on the moderate side and weaker than the Eau de Toilette version of CDNIM.
Precieux outperforms Creed Aventus in every possible way, so this is not an issue. So I would take this over the EDT each time, regardless of the weaker performance.
This release targets men, and don’t get fooled thinking that this is an unisex scent. All fragrances that smell like this immediately remind me of men’s perfume, and I still feel weird each time I detect an Aventus-like fragrance on a woman.
In daily wear, I get compliments easily (friends ask, “What are you wearing?”). It’s a people-pleasing scent – inoffensive, so it works in any situation where you want to smell good and refined.
OCCASIONS & VALUE
It’s a pretty versatile fragrance that I’ve worn both day and night. During spring and early summer. Due to its heavy oak moss base, I would only wear it during the evenings when the weather gets too hot.
What sets Precieux 1 apart is its performance and high-quality oils, offered at a relatively affordable price.
Other than that, if I never see another Aventus clone in my life, I wouldn’t care at all. That’s why it gets the lowest score in this department.
It is also supposedly a clone of Creed Aventus Absolu, which, up to this date, I haven’t smelled.
The first time, I’m going to say that the value for money isn’t what it used to be in the CDNI line. 55ml for $75.00? C’mon!
PROS AND CONS

Exploring the pros and cons provides a comprehensive view, aiding fragrance enthusiasts in their quest for the perfect olfactory experience.
Understanding these nuances allows you to make a more well-informed choice, ensuring a tailored match for individual tastes.

- What’s the deal with the 55ml size?
COLLECTION & SIMILAR PERFUMES
Armaf Club de Nuit Precieux 1 is a part of the ongoing Club de Nuit line since 2015, which has spawned many different flankers and editions.
At the time of writing this article, the latest flanker, Lionheart, was released in 2025, and it doesn’t share any similarities with Precieux 1.

FINAL WORDS

In conclusion, Precieux is an outstanding fragrance that achieves its intended goal.
In my trials, it delivered on its promises: sophisticated depth, strong longevity, and a luxury feel at a designer cost.
I’ve come to rely on it as a go-to special occasion or everyday signature scent. It all just depends on whether you don’t mind wearing a clone of something else, a fragrance DNA for which I think its time has long passed.
