Dior Homme Sport - perfume discoveries

If you are reading this, congratulations. We have survived the last year together, and it’s time for my first-ever fragrance recommendations article.

From now on, I’ll do my 5 best perfume recommendations for each month of the year which I think work best for a particular month and season.

This way, you’ll always have a good amount of perfumes to try out that I believe will enrich your perfume collection, and take you one step closer to finding your signature perfume.

These articles will be more compact and a breeze to read through, giving you only a select few to test during a month.

Since this type of fragrance recommendation doesn’t really fit into my perfume lists category, I have decided to keep it under the news category, which is done more in my personal style.

How I Pick Monthly Fragrance Recommendations

I have selected each perfume to fit into a certain scenario to avoid overlapping. By doing this, you as a fragrance enthusiast and consumer have many options.

These are the following categories:

  • Date night/Clubbing scent
  • Casual daytime scent
  • Casual nighttime scent
  • Winter scent
  • Work scent

So, as you can see, everything has been covered, and the fragrances mentioned here can be used in other seasons as well.

Which fragrance are you wearing the most this month? Let’s start a conversation and leave a comment in the comment section below.

Versace Eros Eau de Toilette (Date night/Clubbing scent)

Why have I picked Eros: Eros has been on the market for almost a decade now and stands as the pillar fragrance when it comes to clubbing and dating.

To my nose, it’s all about Vanilla, Tonka beans, and a hint of minty apple sweetness. Ideal for men under the age of 30, but don’t let that keep you from enjoying it if you are older.

The perfume is long-lasting with a moderate projection. If you don’t mind spending a little more money for a better projection with a similar vibe, go for the Eau de Parfum version.

  • Fragrance Type: Oriental Aromatic
  • Perfumer: Aurelien Guichard
  • Perfume Concentration: Edt
  • Release Date: 2012
  • Age group: 18+
  • Main Notes: Vanilla, Mint, and Tonka Bean
  • Longevity and Projection: 12+ hours with fantastic projection
  • Seasons: Autumn and Winter
  • Occasions: Clubbing
  • Uniqueness: 3/5
  • Value for money: 9/10

Yves Saint Laurent L’Homme Le Parfum (Casual daytime scent)

Why have I picked L’Homme Le Parfum: All those who can’t get over the fact that the original L’Homme is just a shadow of its former self, Yves Saint Laurent has answered your prayers.

Essentially, Le Parfum is the more powerful version of the original, composed with additional modern notes, such as Ambroxan/Amberwood, and aquatic notes.

Le Parfum is a pleasant fragrance and would suit as a daily signature perfume. Congratulations to Yves Saint Laurent for returning to the form with this release.

From every other fragrance recommendation that made this list, Yves Saint Laurent L’Homme Le Parfum has to be the most wearable.

  • Fragrance Type: Spicy Woody
  • Perfumer: n/a
  • Perfume Concentration: Extrait
  • Release Date: 2020
  • Age group: 18+
  • Main Notes: Amberwood, Woods, Ozonic notes
  • Longevity and Projection: 6 – 8 hours with moderate projection
  • Seasons: Any season
  • Occasions: Any occasion
  • Uniqueness: 2/5
  • Value for money: 9/10

Prada Luna Rossa Sport (Casual nighttime scent)

Why have I picked Luna Rossa Sport: This Prada is one of the most underrated fragrances from the last decade. For me, Prada has always been a top-tier designer fragrance brand with overlooked masterpiece fragrances.

That’s why it’s not uncommon for Prada Amber and Amber Intense not to get that much praise in the broad spectrum of this hobby.

Luna Rossa Sport is a long-lasting wonderful scent, composed of soapy lavender, and sophisticated vanilla. Great for any season, but I would avoid Summer since this has nothing to do with fresh Sport fragrances at all.

  • Fragrance Type: Oriental Aromatic
  • Perfumer: Daniela Andrier
  • Perfume Concentration: Edt
  • Release Date: 2015
  • Age group: 25+
  • Main Notes: Lavender, Tonka beans and Vanilla
  • Longevity and Projection: 6 – 8 hours with moderate projection
  • Seasons: All seasons except Summer
  • Occasions: Leisure and Business
  • Uniqueness: 3/5
  • Value for money: 10/10

Tom Ford Ombre Leather (Winter scent)

Why have I picked Ombre Leather: While not being a completely original release(a designer version of Tuscan Leather), for me, Ombre Leather is the best designer perfume of the last decade.

I would also go as far as selecting it into the top three releases from the 2010s. Designer or niche.

Mind-blowing, and spectacular, Ombre Leather is a journey and something every perfume connoisseur should experience.

The leather note is smooth like butter and gentle. If the Tuscan Leather opening was too much for you, go with this one. You won’t regret it.

  • Fragrance Type: Leather
  • Perfumer: Sonia Constant
  • Perfume Concentration: Edp
  • Release Date: 2018
  • Age group: 30+
  • Main Notes: Raspberry, Leather, Amber
  • Longevity and Projection: 24 hours with moderate projection
  • Seasons: Autumn and Winter
  • Occasions: Business, Romantic, and Leisure
  • Uniqueness: 4/5
  • Value for money: 10/10

Gucci Memoire D’une Odeur (Work scent)

Why have I picked Memoire D’une Odeur: Lastly, I have selected Gucci’s underappreciated masterpiece for the work category.

No matter what you have read about one, give it a try. If Memoire D’une Odeur ever gets discontinued, I wouldn’t be surprised if the prices jump to $400+ USD.

The easiest way I could explain the smell of this perfume would be the scent of the library. Unoffensive, comforting, abstract, and statement-making perfume.

Of all the other fragrance recommendations mentioned in this list, Memoire D’une Odeur is the most unique scent.

  • Fragrance Type: Floral Musk
  • Perfumer: Alberto Morillas
  • Perfume Concentration: Edp
  • Release Date: 2019
  • Age group: 30+
  • Main Notes: Musk, Chamomile, and Jasmine
  • Longevity and Projection: 6 – 8 hours with moderate projection
  • Seasons: Any season
  • Occasions: Any occasion
  • Uniqueness: 5/5
  • Value for money: 10/10
