In the new year, we continue with perfume I would like you to take a closer look at. 5 fragrance recommendations for February 2022 have been picked carefully to suit this transitioning period between winter and the upcoming spring season.
Depending on in which part of the world you live, February is still generally considered a cold month of the year and possibly the last 30 days before the next fall and winter to rock the big boys.
I’m proud to say I have already purchased a couple of great perfumes from the last time I did fragrance recommendations, and one of those perfumes has made the list. A relatively affordable niche fragrance that’s somewhat of a hidden gem as well.
If you are still looking for great winter fragrances to wear this season, you have come to the right place. Let’s begin.

How I Picked 5 Fragrance Recommendations For February 2022
In recent times, Croatia is still blessed with regular seasons with an occasional odd year or two. While I do see changes from the real winters and summers from my youth, I do get a chance to fully rotate my perfume collection.
But, knowing that not everywhere in the world is dead cold winter as here, this is what you can expect to find on this list:
- A combination of affordable and expensive fragrances
- All seasons and occasions covered
- Hidden gems and old fragrance community favorites
As a sign of appreciation and listening to your positive feedback about the fragrance recommendation series, I can now confirm that I will keep these kinds of articles coming more regularly from now on.
1. Aramis Havana
A note from the brand: A warm, intoxicating fragrance that simmers with sensuality and anticipation of things to come.
Why is Aramis Havana one of my 5 fragrance recommendations for February 2022: After more than a year, Havana makes the return.
Previously mentioned as one of my most worn fragrances from 2020 that served as my work fragrance back then.
Ideally worn now when it’s cold enough to give it a chance to fully develop in the cold air. The citrus aromatic opening is quality transitioned to the warm heart and woody base, dominated by quality leafy tobacco not found in modern perfumery anymore.
The scent lasts for the whole day, and while it doesn’t smell completely modern anymore, it surely doesn’t smell like something your grandad wore 40 years ago. Probably my favorite Aramis fragrance up to this date.

2. Iceberg Man
A note from the brand: Iceberg launches the new fragrance for men Iceberg Man which celebrates the contemporary man and his seductive and sophisticated side. The house of Iceberg promises an intense and unforgettable composition composed of a blend of oriental, woody and spicy notes. Iceberg Man—the name explains all statements by the Italian brand Iceberg, which has offered refined style in modern compositions since 1984. The new flacon design highlights luxury with simple lines while accentuating a clear and powerful concept and clean lines.
The composition of the new fragrance ICEBERG MAN opens with lemon freshness, which lights for us a masculine blend of pepper and nutmeg. As the scent develops, aromas of lavender, geranium and labdanum exchange, resting on a warm basis of woody accords of sandalwood, cedar and patchouli mixed with hot resins, amber, styrax and benzoin.
Why is Iceberg Man one of my 5 fragrance recommendations for February 2022: A newcomer on Scent Grail, and probably the definition of what hidden gem perfume means.
Unbelievable quality for just around 20$, and the best bang for your buck oriental fragrance on the market. How they achieved something like this for such a low price is beyond me, but here it is.
The scent is a combination of the best parts from Dior Homme Intense and Tom Ford Noir Eau de Parfum with its own little twist. It is again available on Amazon after a long time of absence, and now is the best time to check it out.

3. Nishane Safran Colognise
A note from the brand: After the global success of Colognisé, NISHANE has decided to extend the “Extrait de Cologne Collection” with the new offerings that will still remind the original Colognisé but will have a different take on some accords for different tastes. Main note of saffron helps to add a mysterious and rich allure to the scent.
Why is Safran Colognise one of my 5 fragrance recommendations for February 2022: Another hidden gem on the list, but now from the niche side of the perfume spectrum.
Safran Colognise has practically nothing to do with the original Colognise release, and the similarities are minor and few. What Safran Colognise should be looked at as a fantastic leather/salty perfume with the top-notch saffron note better than found in fragrances such as Mancera Instant Crush and Initio Oud for Greatness.
A masterpiece that will turn heads, and get those compliments each time you wear it. Just be careful and try it out before buying, since citrus opening doesn’t last that long, saffron is not for everyone, and in the base, there is a strong presence of salty ambergris note.

4. Armaf Shades Wood
A note from the brand: Unleash the powerful personality of the man who takes pride in his success. This oriental fragrance opens with rich notes of Rose and Geranium, unified with spicy heart notes of Pepper, Clove and Cumin. The dry down fusions Sandalwood, Cedar wood and Oud.
Why is Shades Wood one of my 5 fragrance recommendations for February 2022: If no one is going to say it, I’m gonna do it now. The whole Oud trend is officially over and we have moved to other things by 2022.
But, if you want just that one rose-oud perfume that doesn’t necessarily break the bank, Shades Wood is a great choice.
Often compared as the best clone of Kilian Rose Oud, and I agree. These types of perfumes work best when it’s dead cold winter outside so that Oud gets the full chance to bloom in the freezing air.
Shades Wood also serves as a great entry point to the whole Oud genre to get yourself familiarized with the aforementioned note.

5. Dior Sauvage Elixir
A note from the brand: Sauvage Elixir is an extraordinarily* concentrated fragrance steeped in the emblematic freshness of Sauvage with an intoxicating heart of Spices, a “tailor-made” Lavender essence and a blend of rich Woods forming the signature of its powerful, lavish and captivating trail.
Francois Demachy, Dior Perfumer-Creator, created the Sauvage Elixir fragrance like a fine liqueur made of exceptional ingredients. This concentration was made possible by the exceptional quality of the raw materials: Sauvage Elixir is a fragrance as unique and rare as a red moon in the night sky.
Sauvage Elixir concentrates all of its power in a midnight blue lacquered glass bottle in a unique* 60 ml size. This precious bottle, shaped like a vial, features multiple sophisticated designs: the magical name of the fragrance is inscribed in shiny silver on a label engraved right into the glass. The dome-shaped bottom engraved with the CD logo marks its silhouette.
Why is Sauvage Elixir one of my 5 fragrance recommendations for February 2022: Here it is. A grown-up version of Sauvage we didn’t know we needed.
One of the final releases from Dior’s in-house all-star perfumer Francois Demachy brought us a more concentrated and more gentlemanly version of Dior’s best-seller.
To my nose, it smells quite similar to Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Masculin Pluriel and Zaharoff’s Signature Pour Homme with that wonderful lavender note with the addition of famous ambroxan note from the original releases.
If you ask me, I would use Sauvage Elixir only in business scenarios, and switch it up with Sauvage Eau de Parfum for clubbing, dating, and other similar times when I want something more playful.

Conclusion
This time, I have tried to do something different than a typical recommendation list, and include a couple of perfumes that smell great but are rarely talked about.
To be honest, I’m getting a little bit tired of this winter and cannot wait for the spring to start wearing lighter perfumes. How about you?
