most worn fragrances - dior homme 2020

2021 has been one strange year for perfumes and in life in general. Looking back at the last article I wrote about this topic, I can see that my most worn fragrances of the last year include some of the ones I wore in 2020 as well.

For me, probably the biggest news of 2021 was the appointment of Francis Kurkdjian as Dior’s Perfume Creation Director.

In the latest edition of my most worn fragrances, I’m including five choices, and believe these are what’s worth checking out in case you haven’t been able to smell them yet.

What kinda shocked me the most about this list was the back that three out of five choices came from the same fragrance house which just shows how wearable and popular their offerings are.

Strangely, no niche perfumes in my top five, even if my niche perfume collection has grown big last year.

Now, let’s see what I got for you.

Most Worn Fragrances: The List

This list goes from number five being the least worn fragrance and number one choice being the most worn fragrance of 2021.

One this that’s even better with this list is that with these five choices, I have covered you for all seasons and all occasions you could possibly wear scents.

It is not a coincidence all five of the fragrances mentioned here are super wearable in my opinion. It seems like I’m lately shifting from heavier stuff to more easy-to-wear but quality perfumes.

5. Dior Sauvage Eau de Parfum

A note from the brand: To create Sauvage Eau de Parfum, François Demachy, Dior Perfumer-Creator, drew inspiration from the desert at the magical twilight hour: mixed with the coolness of the night, the burning desert air exudes profound scents.

The Sauvage Eau de Parfum is thus the olfactory interpretation of a moment tinted with a thick blue that unleashes the wildest instincts. In the hour when the wolves come out and the sky is set ablaze, a new magic unfolds.

Sauvage Eau de Parfum teams the freshness of a juicy, spicy Calabrian Bergamot note with the sensuality of a mysterious and enveloping Papua New Guinean Vanilla absolute accord. The fragrance unfurls a powerful and noble trail.

Why is Dior Sauvage Edp one of my most worn fragrances of 2021: I wore a lot of perfumes last year, and many of them have been sold. Now, when I look back, I only got Dior Sauvage Eau de Parfum in July just before my summer holidays, and is crazy to think that it got into the list.

Highly wearable and versatile perfume, ideal to wear almost anywhere and in any situation.

Bergamot, ambroxan, and pepper dominate this well-performing scent, even when you think it’s too hot outside, it still is detectable by others.

I love this version just enough more than the Eau de Toilette and is one of those fragrances that will stay in my collection until I finish the bottle.

4. Dior Homme 2020

A note from the brand: Dior Homme redefines a new, masculine sensuality with its composition of smooth and raw wood. In the heart notes of tender wood lies the virility of Atlas Cedar embracing the enveloping warmth of Haitian Vetiver tinged with spices. The wood is chiseled in-house at Dior.

Dior Homme conveys all the facets of modern masculinity. A man, yes, but a man of many nuances: confident in both his strength and his tenderness. Dior Homme Eau de Toilette’s bold scented trail leaves a sensual imprint.

Why is Dior Homme 2020 one of my most worn fragrances of 2021: When I found out that Dior was reformulation the glorious Dior Homme and making it a whole different scent without the Iris, I was furious, and completely ignored this future classic for a whole year.

But, you know sometimes things in life change, and we should stay open-minded. Because I was wrong about this one. Not only does it work in the same scenarios as Dior Sauvage, but it also feels more modern and is the first fragrance in this new decade that’s pawing a new trend of woody and fresh Iso E Super dominated perfumes. 3. Tom Ford Ombre Leather

A note from the brand: The tactile sensuality of rich black leather, textured with addictive patchouli and vetiver, envelops like second skin. The perfume’s floral tones of jasmine sambac conjure wild desert beauty, while layers of amber and moss mimic the heat of rock and sand.

“Ombré Leather is a deeply textural scent that imprints you with a tactile sensuality. It makes one feel different, beautiful and desired.” – Tom Ford

Why is Tom Ford Ombre Leather one of my most worn fragrances of 2021: Ombre Leather is my favorite fragrance release of the 2010s and my first clubbing choice of 2021.

I even placed in the number #1 spot of my Top 10 Best Tom Ford Perfumes. That’s how good I believe it is.

If you are looking for that Tuscan Leather scent DNA, I would recommend skipping all the clones from Rasasai, Acqua di Parma, Parfums de Marly, Nishane, Byredo, and others.

Ombre Lether is better than all of them, and in most cases, you can find it for cheaper, and you know what? By wearing Ombre Leather, you are wearing the original.

2. Dior Fahrenheit

A note from the brand: A unique and contrasting signature, with a powerful enchanting trail. Fresh Sicilian Mandarin notes, and the surprising combination of masculine Wood and Leather with an unprecedented Violet accord.

Creativity, distinction, and character: the Fahrenheit signature is unique—manly yet subtle—for men with a love of freedom.

Why is Dior Fahrenheit one of my most worn fragrances of 2021: To me, Dior Fahrenheit is the undisputed king of men’s black leather perfumes.

Every now and then, there comes a challenger that tries to dethrone the Leather King and fails. They make them richer, more complex, and more rounder, but miss the most important and critically acclaimed quality of Fahrenheit, and the reason why it is still a top seller around the world.

Fahrenheit is more wearable than any of them and has a Dior branding behind the product. As simple as that.

Until all those wannabe high-end niche brands realize this, Fahrenheit will be the king, and quite frankly, I believe that even 50 years from now, the situation will be the same, and I love it.

1. Montblanc Explorer

A note from the brand: From South Africa to Haiti, Italy, Germany or Indonesia; Montblanc EXPLORER invites explorers on a fantastic journey, giving them the opportunity to discover the rarest ingredients and manufacturing methods that combine craftsmanship with the latest technology.

Why is Montblanc Explorer one of my most worn fragrances of 2021: At no surprise at all, Montblanc Explorer is the number #1 choice on this list. If you know my fragrance taste, it is even less surprising that I sold Armafs Club de Nuit Intense Man in favor of wearing Explorer.

This designer take on Creed Aventus is so good, that even if you have the original, this still should be your daily driver in times when you want to wear a fresher and easier-to-wear Aventus.

Yes, there is no pineapple here, but you know what? The latest batches of Aventus also feel like there is an absence of pineapple as well. Overall, the dry down is where Explorer gets closer to Dior Sauvage rather than Aventus, but still, could you ask for more at this price?

  • Perfumer: Jordi Fernandez, Antoine Maisondieu and Olivier Pescheux
  • Perfume Oil Concentration: Eau de Parfum
  • Fragrance Type: Fruity Aromatic
