Top 10 best Dior perfumes: The list
Before we start with the list, here are a couple of rules I set for myself on how this list was meant to be made.
Firstly, there are no discontinued(with one exception) Dior fragrances here since they would dominate the actual list.
This includes original Dior Homme and Intense, Fahrenheit Absolute, Fahrenheit 32, Eau Sauvage Parfum 2012, Midnight Poison, and some other releases as well.
Also, some popular Dior releases are not here because of either me not spending enough time to sample them such as Dior Sauvage Elixir, or haven’t had an opportunity to try them out yet such as Bois d’Argent.
Secondly, some scents from the brand are notoriously hard to find such as Dior Homme Parfum was also left from the article as they are almost equally hard to find as are the discontinued releases.
Thirdly, only one perfume from the La Collection Privee is here due to the higher price point, and Dior is best known are a designer brand, rather than a niche one.
And lastly, this list is not made in the descending way of the number 10 being worse than number one and vice versa. Each of these fragrances is excellent and worth sampling.

10. Dior J’adore Eau de Parfum

Why is Addict one of the best Dior perfumes: While I typically try to avoid playing favorites, I must admit that Addict is my top pick among all women’s Dior fragrances.

Why is Oud Ispahan one of the best Dior perfumes: The only Dior fragrance on this list from the La Collection Privee, and the only one which is officially marketed as a unisex perfume.
The reason why Oud Ispahan made the list instead of some other more popular releases is that it can be found more easily in stores and is often available at a lower price.
This is because the familiar oud/rose composition is one that many of us have seen in numerous other releases, but this one has a few tricks up its sleeve that make it stand out from the rest.
Besides the classic rose and oud formula, Oud Ispahan’s oud is rich but not animalic, and the labdanum creates a smooth and warm amber/leather dry down that is to die for. If you’re an oud lover, this one is definitely worth trying.

Personally, I reserve those accolades for Dior Homme Intense and Fahrenheit. Sauvage has everything I ever wanted from a quality fragrance I can wear throughout the year to smell professional and alluring while not potentially offending anyone with my scent.
A fresh, musky, and spicy fragrance that most will love, it is also the best “blue” type of perfume of all time. With Sauvage, you cannot go wrong.

Why is Eau Sauvage one of the best Dior perfumes: Refined, worldly, and a great fragrance for spring and summer, Eau Sauvage has barbershop DNA running through its composition.
Even after all these years, it is still considered by many to be the greatest men’s fragrance from Dior, regardless of age.
The fragrance has everything someone with good taste would want from a classic scent, from the natural-smelling citrusy opening to its spicy/floral heart. Don’t be afraid of the mossy dry down; a classic is a classic, and Eau Sauvage’s scent trail is one of the best.
When I think about Eau Sauvage, I picture Sean Connery, a true gentleman.

Why is Dior Homme Intense one of the best Dior perfumes: I cannot stress enough how groundbreaking the release of Dior Homme Intense was back in 2007 (original formulation).
This fragrance is the reference for men’s iris/makeup perfumes that opens up with the aromas of powder, lipstick, makeup, aromatic herbs, and bitter citruses lurking in the background.
If you like trendy oriental perfumes full of amber, vanilla, and tonka beans, you are in luck. As DHI dries down, what is left is warm and musky vanilla with hints of chocolate, making it great.
Many have tried to copy this formula with more or less success, but there is only one Dior Homme Intense. It is a true gem in the perfume world.

Why is Fahrenheit one of the best Dior perfumes: As is the case with Addict being my favorite women’s fragrance from Dior, so is Fahrenheit from the men’s selection.
A violet leaf masterpiece, a distinct and bold release that still smells modern, just as it did back in the 80s. Of everything on this list, I believe that only Fahrenheit would still smell fresh even if it were released 20 years in the future from now.
Better known as the “gasoline” fragrance, it stands out from the crowd, and in my opinion, it’s the best black leather fragrance of all time.
Surprisingly versatile for such a unique composition, I could imagine Nicholas Cage wearing it at the start of his film career. There is nothing else like Fahrenheit.

Dior Brand and Perfume History
The house of Dior was founded by the late Christian Dior more than 70 years ago in Paris, France. In February 1947, Christian Dior launched his first fashion collection for Spring–Summer 1947 named the “New Look“.
At the end of the 1940s, this “New Look” collection was a pioneering period for women, for which Christian Dior is credited with reviving France’s post-World War 2 fashion industry.
As the collection grew ever so popular so has Christian Dior gained more and more prominent clients from Hollywood and high-profile European clientele.
Until Christian Dior’s death in 1957, the company expanded to the United States, Australia, Canada, and Central America as one of the leaders in female high fashion.
Christian Dior Parfums branch was established in 1947 or 1948, and the first perfume they ever released was the popular Miss Dior.
As with fashion, Dior revolutionized the perfumery industry with this perfume, named after his sister. On the male side of perfumes, Eau Sauvage, Fahrenheit, Dior Homme, and Sauvage have been the major players and trend shifters, and are all still available on the market.
Today, Dior is owned by LVMH and controlled by French businessman Bernard Arnault(also a chairman of LVMH). Their wide variety of products is sold throughout retail stores worldwide, as well as through Dior online store.
Dior perfume collection
Dior offers several fragrance lines, each with its own unique characteristics and target audience. These include designer women’s and men’s collections along with the niche line Le Collection Privee.
No matter if you are looking for a more affordable designer Dior fragrance or something from the Privee line, rest assured that each of the brand’s products uses high-quality ingredients, carefully selected and combined to create something new and luxurious.
Some of the natural ingredients you will find in each Dior fragrance are May rose from Grasse, Tuscan iris, Calabrian bergamot, and Arabian jasmine just to name a few.

- Sample perfumes before committing to full bottles. You can do this by visiting Dior boutiques or a fragrance store that offers testers. There is nothing less appealing than blindly buying a fragrance and realizing that it was a waste of money
- Read reviews – reading perfume reviews from other perfume lovers can help you narrow down your wish list and point you in the right direction
- Spending around 100$ – start with Dior Homme 2020 or Dior Sauvage Eau de Parfum
- Spending more than 150$ – start with Dior Sauvage Elixir or Vanilla Diorama

At the first glance, perfume may seem like scented alcohol water you spray onto yourself and that’s it. Still, it takes a little finesse to learn how to wear perfume correctly.
If you have ever wondered why your perfume may only last about an hour or two, the reason may be that you are not wearing your perfume the best way. Here are my favorite tips&tricks on how to wear your favorite fragrances:
1. CHOOSE THE RIGHT CONCENTRATION
One of the most important things to do when you find your favorite perfume is to choose the right perfume concentrations and learn more about fragrance strengths.
These two terms refer to raw material oil concentration. By knowing that, these concentrations vary from perfume to perfume and affect sillage and projection, along with some other subtle things.
All fragrant products fall into some of these main categories:
- Eau Fraiche 1-3%
- After Shave/Mist/Splash 1-3%
- Eau de Cologne 2-4%
- Eau de Toilette 5-15%
- Eau de Parfum 15-20%
- Pure Parfum/Extrait de Parfum 20-40%
Thus, you’ll be pleased to know that most of your perfumes come either in Eau de Toilette or Eau de Parfum concentrations.
2. FINDING A PERFECT FRAGRANCE FOR THE RIGHT SEASON AND OCCASION
Another important point you should consider before buying a perfume is choosing the right perfume for particular occasions and seasons.
This will greatly depend on your lifestyle, workplace, and in which part of the world you live in. Daytime fragrance usually is lighter, citrusy, effervescent, and lasts less. We usually associate these types of scents with Spring and Summer.
On the other hand, nighttime fragrances are stronger and denser with “heavier” notes. Heavier fragrances and usually associated with the Fall and Winter seasons.
3. SPRAY THE FRAGRANCE ON CLEAN SKIN
The ideal way of wearing the perfume is by applying it directly to the skin. Perfume products are made to best interact with our skin and our body heat.
That’s why I don’t recommend testing fragrances on test strips that don’t show the real picture. The warmest parts of your body will produce the best results and here are six recommended places to spray your perfume:

- Spray on the neck and around the neck area
- Spray down your back
- Spray down your chest
- Spray inside your elbows
4. LESS IS MORE
You have found your favorite perfume, and you are enjoying it to the fullest. Spraying liberally surrounds you with the most beautiful scented cloud. You are happy.
But one day, you notice that the scent bubble has shrunk so much that you barely smell your perfume and now you wonder has your perfume has gone bad or what could be the issue.
